Employers

The Registered Psychiatric Nurses Act sets out, in law, the responsibilities of employers  to report misconduct to the College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of Manitoba.

If an employer suspends or terminates the employment of a Registered Psychiatric Nurse or Graduate Psychiatric Nurse for alleged professional incompetence or professional misconduct, the employer must  promptly report the suspension or termination to the CRPNM Executive Director in writing*.

There may be times when an employer is concerned about the practice or conduct of a Registered Psychiatric Nurse or a Graduate Psychiatric Nurse before suspension or termination has been considered. These concerns may also be reported to the CRPNM.

* The CRPNM must review all written complaints made against its members.
