We acknowledge that Manitoba is on the original lands of the Dakota, Anishinaabeg, Cree, Oji-Cree, Dakota, Dené, Inuit and Métis Nation. We acknowledge that the College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of Manitoba is located on Treaty One territory. We respect the Treaties that were made on these territories, and we acknowledge the harms and mistakes of the past. We dedicate ourselves to moving forward in partnership with First Nations, Métis, and Inuit communities in a spirit of reconciliation and collaboration.

Standards and Code of Ethics

The CRPNM regulates the psychiatric nursing profession by setting standards for practice and adopting a code of ethics to govern the conduct of members.

The Code of Ethics sets out the moral and ethical expectations and provides a framework for professional responsibility and accountability. The Standards of Psychiatric Nursing Practice set out the minimum expectations of how Registered Psychiatric Nurses will practice.

The Code and Standards work together and apply to all practice settings, domains of practice and roles regardless of the RPN’s educational preparation or professional experience. Failure to comply with the Code and Standards and the provisions of Regulated Health Professions Act and the CRPNM General Regulation can result in disciplinary action.
