We acknowledge that Manitoba is on the original lands of the Dakota, Anishinaabeg, Cree, Oji-Cree, Dakota, Dené, Inuit and Métis Nation. We acknowledge that the College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of Manitoba is located on Treaty One territory. We respect the Treaties that were made on these territories, and we acknowledge the harms and mistakes of the past. We dedicate ourselves to moving forward in partnership with First Nations, Métis, and Inuit communities in a spirit of reconciliation and collaboration.

Graduate Registration

After you have been approved to write the Registered Psychiatric Nurses of Canada examination (RPNCE) and the CRPNM has received your completed exam application and payment  you may register as a Graduate Psychiatric Nurse. This will allow you to work as a psychiatric nurse, with restrictions, during the time when you are waiting to take the exam or are waiting for your results.

Graduate Psychiatric Nurses have some restrictions on their practice. While on the Graduate register you:

  • May not be in charge and may not practice without supervision
  • Must have a RPN or RN available to you for consultation if required
  • Are expected to practice within the CRPNM Standards of Psychiatric Nursing Practice, the Psychiatric Nursing Competencies and the Code of Ethics

The graduate registration fee is $100 plus the GST. Graduate registration is valid for a period of no more than four months, but on application may be renewed.

Contact CRPNM to request a Graduate Registration Application form.

Important: If you do not wish to practice during this time, or if you are not in Canada during this time, you do not need to be on the Graduate Register.

Practising Registration

You must write and pass the registration examination in order to be on the Practising register with the CRPNM. In addition to the fee for the examination there is an annual fee for registration with the CRPNM.

When you have successfully completed all requirements and paid all fees, we provide you with a registration certificate, and you will be permitted to practice as a Registered Psychiatric Nurse in Manitoba.

*Initial registration with the CRPNM must be to the Graduate or Practising register.
