We acknowledge that Manitoba is on the original lands of the Dakota, Anishinaabeg, Cree, Oji-Cree, Dakota, Dené, Inuit and Métis Nation. We acknowledge that the College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of Manitoba is located on Treaty One territory. We respect the Treaties that were made on these territories, and we acknowledge the harms and mistakes of the past. We dedicate ourselves to moving forward in partnership with First Nations, Métis, and Inuit communities in a spirit of reconciliation and collaboration.

Mandatory Reports – Employers

The Regulated Health Professions Act– subsection 168(1)- sets out, in law, the responsibilities of employers  to report misconduct to the College.

If an employer suspends or terminates the employment of a Registered Psychiatric Nurse or Graduate Psychiatric Nurse for misconduct, incompetence or incapacity, the employer must promptly report the suspension or termination to the College’s Registrar in writing.*

There may be other times when an employer is concerned about the practice or conduct of a Registered Psychiatric Nurse or a Graduate Psychiatric Nurse.

If you are an employer and would like to discuss an issue or if you are not sure whether an incident should be reported to the College, please contact the College’s Registrar.

* The Registrar reviews all complaints and employer reports to determine if they should be referred to the College’s Complaints Investigation Committee.
